Even though this game debuted in 2016, it was not well-liked at the time. I'd like to play this now. Since I couldn't find a link to the game online, I uploaded the HTML package I downloaded from the official Wayback Machine website to itch.io. The original goal of posting the work was to make the game playable by people inside the Chinese Internet wall.
Take on a well-known scientist in this game. After deciding who to control, step into the arena. For instance, you could pretend to be Newton. You have a deadline to beat your opponent. Though it won't be simple, you stand a high chance of succeeding if you consider every action you make.
In the utterly ludicrous fighting game About Science Kombat, all of the world's favorite scientists—from Marie Curie to Steven Hawking—compete against one another in a tournament where the victor gets to face the greatest enemy of all scientists: GOD.
Anyone who has played Street Fighter 2 will be familiar with the 2D fighting gameplay. Although Science Kombat lacks the competitive gameplay of Capcom's classic, it makes up for it with great pixel art, a great sense of humor, and a nice selection of scientist characters with cool special moves.
Eight characters are available for selection: Alan Turing, Tesla, Pythagoras, Steven Hawking, Einstein, Darwin, and Isaac Newton. Each scientist has the ability to perform entertaining special moves based on their area of expertise, frequently to humorous effect. For example, Tesla can shoot electrical bolts at people, Marie Curie can shoot radiation from her hands, and Isaac Newton can drop apples on people's heads. Okay, so it's not the most spectacular move, but it's what he's got.
You have the option of playing a fast match against any other scientist or competing in a tournament where you face off against every other scientist before facing off against GOD in the end (and not just any god, but all of them!). There has never really been much agreement between science and religion, but it appears that this time is different!
Though we wish the fighting mechanics had been a little more polished, Science Kombat is still a fantastic little fighter with superb pixel visuals and an amazing premise. We're cool with any game where you can witness Steven Hawking use his wheelchair to slap Albert Einstein in the face!
