Tokyo is home to "ghouls," who stalk people and eat their flesh. A woman met Ken Kaneki, a bookworm who often visited the café "Anteiku," there. They grew closer because they shared similar interests in reading, were in comparable situations, and were of similar ages. And yet, during a date at a bookshop, Ken Kaneki met with an event that altered his course in life, necessitating the transplant of a "ghoul" organ.
While Ken Kaneki views this perverted society with skepticism and trepidation, he is also dragged unavoidably into its horrifying web.
